Privacy, Terms of Use, and Security Policy


Personal Data

We respect the privacy of customers. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the UPaisa app (the ‘app’). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree, please do not access the application.


During the course of processing your application, Ubank and the app may accumulate your personal and non-public financial information about you from a different place, such as:

  • directly from you with your consent
  • a third party authorized to act on your behalf
  • publically available resources and/or other organizations
  • We collect information as per the relevant regulations and laws related to the privacy of personal data. Also, customers are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information. We do not share your information with anyone.


    In certain cases, we may be constrained to share your information across other related business lines of our business, government agencies for money laundering checks, credit risk reduction, fraud crime prevention purposes, to another prospective buyer, in the event we sell our business, to a regulatory body, external auditor or to the court where required by law, or to any Federal or Local government, statutory or public body.


    In any case, we will not sell or share your email address, phone number, name, (e)mail address, or any other personal and non-public information with anyone, especially the marketing agencies. You can use the app and remain anonymous. We only contact you through our UAN +92 51 111-182-265, 7777 or email you if you want information from us.


    Terms & Conditions

    By downloading and/or using the app, these Terms and Conditions will apply to you. Please make sure that you read them carefully before using the app. The app itself, and all the trademark, copyright, database rights, and all other intellectual property rights related to it, belong to Ubank. Before using this app, the customers are requested to carefully read the personal privacy and security of transaction statements. The app is free of cost and currently available on Google Play Store and will soon be available on Apple App Store.


    We are committed to ensuring that the app is as useful and efficient as possible. For that reason, all right to make changes to the app, at any time for any reason. You will be charged for the app or its services after making it clear to you exactly what you are paying for. The app stores and processes the data that you have provided to us, to provide the relevant services. Customers must keep their phones or any other device and access the app secure. We, therefore, recommend that customers should not root or jailbreak their phones and other devices, which is the process of removing software restrictions and limitations imposed by the official operating system of your phone and other devices. Please be aware that any such attempt will make your phone and other devices vulnerable to malware/viruses/malicious programs, compromise the security of the phone and other devices. It could mean that the app will not work properly or at all.


    It is also notified that there are certain things that we will not take responsibility for. Certain functions of the app will require the app to have an active internet connection. The connection can be provided by your mobile/device network operators. In any case, we will not be responsible for the app not working at full and secure functionality if customers do not have access to a secure and stable internet connection, including when customers do not have of your mobile data left.


    In case customers are using the app outside of the area with a secure Wi-Fi, which the terms of the agreement with your mobile operator may still apply, although the app is free of cost. For instance, you may be charged by your mobile operator for the cost of data for the during of connection while accessing and using the app, including the roaming data charges if you use the app outside Pakistan, without turning off data roaming.


    Concerning Ubank’s responsibility, please note that while we constantly strive to keep the app updated and correct at all times, we may rely on third parties to provide information to us so that we can make it available to you. The app does use third party services such as Google Play Store that have their Terms and Conditions accessible at Google Play Services. However, in case of any misuse, we accept no responsibility for any loss, direct or indirect, which you may experience wholly on the functionality of the app.


    Transaction Security

    The main security feature of the app-related services is the four (4) digit MPIN. The customer must use MPIN to access, authenticate, and authorize transaction requests from their registered UPaisa wallet. Additionally, for the first login, the service will require a One Time Passcode (OTP). Moreover, a unique transaction reference number will be generated against each financial transaction request. The same will be communicated to the customer via SMS and Email upon completion of the transaction.


    The security of the MPIN must not be compromised by choosing an MPIN that cannot be easily guessed, for example, a four-digit number in sequence like 1234. Further, the OTP or the MPIN must not be shared with anyone. The customer must not under any circumstances store their MPIN (or passcode) on their handset in any manner. If the handset automatically stores the MPIN (or passcode), the customer shall be solely responsible to delete/deactivate it.


    Only transactions requested from the registered UPaisa wallet number will be considered as legitimate and will be acted on. If anyone obtains the MPIN or the passcode, the SIM on UPaisa account number, it will be assumed that the person having them is the customer. Any transaction authorized by using the MPIN or the passcode, through the SIM on UPaisa account number will be legitimate and will be acted on. In case of stolen any of the above protocols, the customer will be liable for any transactions processed. The customer shall indemnify and hold harmless, Ubank and Ufone PTML, its officers, directors and employees, from any loss, harm, or damage, resulting from the unauthorised use of MPIN.


    We do not seek to collect the MPIN, or the passcode, OTP, or any other transactional data by any means, and none of our employees will ask or inquire about this security information via any medium.


    We reserve the right to update the app, the above Terms, and Conditions from time to time to reflect any changes to the app, its privacy practices, and/or applicable regulations and laws. You are therefore advised to review this page periodically for any change. Nevertheless, we will also notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms and Conditions on this page. These Terms and Conditions are effective as soon as you install or use the app.
